Wishing tree

The “ Wishing Tree” project is a seed paper workshop, teaching people how to handmade paper and giving old paper scraps a new life into plantable seed paper. This project aims to highlight connection by art to plant the seed of environmental consciousness into the heart of Bloomington city residents.

In the current design overflow, it has been increasingly habitual for people to discard personal belongings regularly. People seem to believe that just by sorting paper into the correctly specified bin, they somehow fulfill their responsibility to nature, but it is not the case. This workshop is granted by Public Arts and collaborates with the Wylie house museum. People learn how to use paper-making kits to handmade seed paper inside the museum and exhibiting their drawings on the seed paper outside the museum garden. When the paintings hang from the woods and enter the soil with the wind and rain, the seeds in the painting will germinate and grow. The paintings of this public art piece will be decomposed and returned to the land without causing waste and harm to the environment.

This poster is for promoting the seed paper workshop that happens at Wylie House Museum. The illustration of the building held by the hand with seed paper growing with wildflowers representing the feeling we get from reintegrating ourselves with nature is the feeling of humanity that the world has bestowed upon us.

This Kit is designed to acknowledge people making your own seed paper is only a few simple steps, by designing everything into miniature scale, everything is easier to control. It includes a paper-making introduction book, seed, absorbent towel, container, and screen.
